Abbott’s Assert-IQ Insertable Cardiac Monitor Receives the US FDA’s Clearance for Irregular Heartbeats

- The company has received the US FDA clearance for Assert-IQ ICM that offers long-term monitoring and remote programming to improve connectivity to patients with irregular heartbeats
- It also provides physicians and users two battery options: a 3yr. battery for traditional cardiac monitoring or 6yr. battery for long-term monitoring such as those undergoing therapy & are at risk of developing further arrhythmias i.e., AF
- The system uses Bluetooth technology to remain connected to a transmitter that checks heart rhythms every 20 seconds & transmits results in real-time to the clinic’s portal. The system also offers advanced diagnostic capabilities & relevant information about cardiovascular health to patients
