TWO OREGON PHARMACIES CLOSING
This always saddens me. “Reimbursements for medications are low, and insurance companies aren’t covering the cost of medications, Garrison said.” Yep. That is the long and short of it. VITAMIN D EVIDENCE LANGUISHING
As with virtually every vitamin, they have seasons of promotion and decline. I’ve watched them all get touted and recommended…and then the evidence swings the other way. CNBC interviewed a CVS pharmacist, Erin Burton, to learn more about expiration dates on medications. “t’s important to check out the expiration dates on medications because once we’re past that date, they become less effective, Burton tells CNBC”. OLDER AMERICANS STOPPING MEDS
It appears a growing number of seniors are deciding to cut back on their prescription medications, many times doing so without consulting their prescriber first. This could be risky. “…more than one-third of older adults said they had quit taking a medication they had been using for more than a year without talking first to a doctor, pharmacist or nurse practitioner.” UPI. Great little opinion piece on the topic of obesity, the media bias surrounding this topic, and the reaction to semaglutide approval in the UK. “Recent coverage of semaglutide has been — unsurprisingly for those of us working in obesity treatment and advocacy — largely dismissive of the compelling evidence we now have that tells us obesity is a complex chronic disease.” MEDSCAPE. FOR FUN – NEW ENGLAND VS. MANHATTAN CLAM CHOWDER
For those of us who take our food (but not ourselves) seriously, a good article on the history and differences between chowders is always a worthy read. My vote will always with the New England version. “The recipe reportedly dates back to the 17th century, when French sailors traveling to New England used local ingredients to recreate the rich soups from their homeland.
