This year, NABP’s Verified Pharmacy Program® (VPP®) is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Since its inception in 2013, VPP has become the most widely recognized multistate uniform pharmacy inspection program accepted by state boards of pharmacy. To date, VPP has completed over 2,400 on-site inspections.

The program provides access to verified pharmacy licensure details, VPP inspection reports, inspection responses, and other important data through the use of a secure information sharing network, which helps state boards to make informed licensure decisions.

At compounding pharmacies, inspectors verify compliance with current United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Chapters <795>, <797>, <800>, and next month, USP <825>. Pharmacies operating in multiple states have found VPP to be a practical and cost-effective solution, because just one inspection often satisfies the licensing requirements for most states.

VPP is also ideal for pharmacies that need a nonresident pharmacy inspection required by an out-of-state board of pharmacy for renewing or obtaining nonresident licensure. It also serves as a prerequisite for pharmacies wanting to pursue an NABP Compounding Pharmacy Accreditation.
